Career Brief:

Dr. Jahan Zaib Arshad is Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Government College Women University Sialkot. He earned his PhD in chemistry in 2019 in a split program between Quaid-i-Azam University, Pakistan (QAU) and The University of Auckland, New
Zealand. The field of specialization is inorganic chemistry and his research interests are in inorganic medicinal chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry and organometallic chemistry, where he uses an interdisciplinary approach in drug discovery. He is especially interested in the development of metal-centred anticancer agents, particularly ruthenium anticancer drugs, and using analytical methods to characterise their behaviour in the presence of biomolecules. His aim of research is to synthesize the orally active anticancer metallodrug with fewer side effects and enhanced efficacy.

He has published 6 research articles in well reputed international journals with overall Impact Factor (IF) 28.2. Recently a research article “A Multitargeted Approach: Organorhodium Anticancer Agent Based on Vorinostat as a Potent Histone Deacetylase Inhibitor” is published in a highly prestigious journal “Angewandte Chemie, 2020, DOI: 10.1002/anie.202005758” with an Impact Factor (IF) 12.2. Two manuscripts are also in process of preparation. One of his PhD work presented in 9th Asian Biological Inorganic Chemistry (AsBIC)
Conference (December 2018) in Singapore.
