A Walk and Model competition on “World Fisheries Day” was organized by Department of Zoology, on December 08, 2021. Dr. Moazama Batool, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Zoology, served as coordinator while, Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Kousar, Vice Chancellor, GC Women University, Sialkot was the Chief Guest of said program. The theme of event was “Fish is future of Protein”. The event was started at 10.30am with a walk, started from the front of Department of Zoology. Respected HOD, faculty members and students of zoology department joined the walk. The walk was headed to admin block, progressing to the other departments of university and ended in Zoology department. The purpose of event was to aware the participants with importance of fish, and different ways to protect, manage and save the fish life.
10 different models were prepared and displayed by students of Zoology department. All the models were depicting student’s effort to exhibit various concepts regarding exclusive types of fish culture, fish ponds and effects of pollution on fish population, bioflock and fish forming. All the models were evaluated by Jury members, Dr. Zarrin Fatima Rizvi, HOD, Dept. of Botany, Dr. Chaudhary Omer Javed, Direct ORIC, Dr. Afshan Urooj, Assistant Prof. Dept. of Environmental Sciences and Dr. Asma Waheed Qureshi, HOD, Dept. of Zoology. Jury members appreciated all the students for their model presentation and announced the result.
At the end, certificates were distributed among position holders, coordinator, organizers and jury members. Dr. Asma Waheed, HOD of Zoology department concluded the ceremony with note of thanks to Jury members, faculty members, organizers and all the participants.
