Economics Department Participation in National Conference on CPEC

National Conference on CPEC, Institutions and Inclusive Growth of Pakistan at

UOG, Hafiz Hayat Campus

A two-day National Conference on CPEC, Institutions and Inclusive Growth of Pakistan” was hosted by University of Gujrat at Hafiz Hayat Campus on 27-28 Feb 2018. The conference was organized by Department of Economics with the purpose to discuss the highlights of the mega project. It also addressed the key challenges in the successful implementation of the project. The conference was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof, Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum. Scholars and economic experts from all over the country including Shahid Hafeez Kardar, Dr. Abid Suleri, Prof Dr. Imran Shrif, Muhammad Muzammil Zia, Dr. Fouzia Maqsood and many others had discussions over various aspects of CPEC project. Dr. Hafiz Khalil Ahmed (Dean of Social Sciences) and Ms. Ayza Shoukat (Lecturer in Economics) represented Government College Women University at the conference. They attended the conference along with the MS students from Department of Economics. Ms. Ayza also made her contribution by presenting her paper “CPEC and Employment: Opportunities and Challenges” shedding light on how CPEC can facilitate the employment generation process with the special focus on pros and cons of this project. The conference was a valuable learning experience for the students and provided a platform to interact with experts and professionals of the subject.
