Psychological First Aid

The workshop was successfully organized by the Department of Psychology on 13th December 2021 at GCWUS. Worthy Vice Chancellor GCWUS glorified the event with her presence as chief guest. Program was started with the recitation of the verses of the Holy Quran and Nate-Rasool Maqbool by the students of Department of Psychology. Dr. Umara Rauf (Incharge Department of Psychology) hosted the event. After taking permission from Worthy Vice Chancellor (Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Kausar), Dr.Umara Rauf (Incharge Department of Psychology) Welcomed the resource person Ms. Naima Hassan (UN certified Trainer and stress Counsellor at United Nation Department of Safety and Security) and  Chief guest (Vice chancellor, Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Kausar).

Participants of the workshops were faculty, MS. Clinical Psychology and BS final year students. Madam Naima Hassan conducted the session very affectively with her useful knowledge, expertise, and immense experience. It was very interactive and practical based session.

Resource person briefed that First Aid is important psychosocial support for people that affected by any crisis, trauma, or emergency. PFA like medical “first aid” is not enough on its own but it is a complete teamwork of other support providers including (i.e., team, police, firefighters, and social workers etc.) The resource person briefly described the reason why we need to assist people to recover from crisis. We need supporting people to feel safe, calm, connected to supports provides by acting our roles as enablers. She provided the knowledge with practical demonstration of current scenario that happened in Sialkot city.

In the end, Worthy Vice Chancellor concluded the session and paid thanks to the resource person. After vote of thanks, souvenirs were distributed to resource person and certificate were distributed among the participants.
