Economics is helping society to decide on the optimal allocation of our limited resources and also important for many areas of society. It can help to improve living standards and make society a better place. It is the long tradition of Economics Department of GCWU, Sialkot to organize various curricular and co-curricular activities to broaden the vision of the students. The Economics Department organized“Seminar on Pakistan Current Economic Problems & Memento Design and Poster competition”on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.The main objective of the event was to create awareness about the economic problems that Pakistan is suffering and also to make students confident and expert about exploring their skills so they can tile the world through creativity. It is required because today is the era that students should be proficient, skillful and must have the analytical ability to understand economic issues. Students will be not nimble-fingered if they are not capable to analyze the issues of human suffering and giving suggestions to remove them. Faculty and students participated in the event.


           

The program started at 10:00 am in Room No# 82 of GCWU, Sialkot.The event was formally commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat e Rasool (S.A.W.W.). After that Worthy Judges, Assistant Professor Mrs. Lubna Tabassum, Lecturer Mrs. Saima Munir and Dr. M.Ilyas, Director of Research and Chairperson of Economics Department visited the stalls of various Memento design and Poster displayed by the students. They highly appreciated the students for their innovative ideas and creativity of using material glass, wood, metal and stones to design Mementos.


              
 

Speaker Dr. M. Ilyas highlighted the current issues of Pakistan(population pressure, rising volume of internal and external pressure, rising level of prices and inflation, falling exports and rising imports, the falling level of human resource development and the growing inequalities). After his speech,  there was a question answer session in which Speaker entertained the queries of the students.


         

Dr. M. Ilyas, Mrs. Lubna Tabassum and Mrs. Saima Munir distributed the prizes among winning students.The Event was organized by lecturer Syeda Tusaied Zahra.
