Kashmir Solidarity Day

Department of Political Science with the collaboration of Urdu department under the umbrella of Fabion Society observed Kashmir Solidarity Day on Tuesday 4th Feb-2020. Kashmir Solidarity Day, or Kashmir Day, is a national holiday in Pakistan and also observed by Kashmiri nationalists on 5 February each year. Kashmir Day is observed by people throughout Pakistan and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK). It is an internationally recognized day observed by people, predominantly Kashmir worldwide. The day is marked by public processions, special prayers in mosques for the liberation of Kashmir and protests that are carried out against the Indian oppression of Kashmir. Kashmir Day is also of particular political importance to major political and religious parties in both Pakistan and AJK. The students of political Science through skits, songs, and speeches highlighted the violence, killing and destruction in Indian occupied Kashmir. The PhD scholars in their presentations throw light on the history of Kashmir, UN role and Violence in the valley. The director research and innovation Dr Ilyas, HoD Urdu department Dr Afzal Butt, director students’ affairs Dr Shagufta Firdous, Dr Shahbaz, Dr Rashid also attended the program with zeal and zest. The Head of department, Dr Muhammad Muzaffer in his comprehensive speech assured the Kashmiri people that they are not alone in their struggle for freedom, Pakistani people, with their government and Pakistan army are on their back. He also condemned the Indian government on the violence against innocent people of Kashmir. He raised a question mark on the UN, OIC and other world organizations role, cold behavior and silent policies to save the Kashmiri people from Indian brutal killing. He highlighted the significance of the day and paid rich tribute to martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect their motherland. The faculty and students of GCWUS took out rally in support of their Kashmiri brothers and sisters fighting for freedom from the Indian occupation.
